In an age where everyone is consuming the same media, individuality is more important now than ever. Writing acts as a powerful voice, and can be used to uplift those whose voices may be marginalized or prone to erasure. Just like voices in real life, someone’s writing voice can have its own distinguishing characteristics.
Your voice in writing can include something of the linguistic nature, such as using vernacular language, or perhaps code switching in your words.
Distinction in writing style can also indicate the order and rhythm of your own thoughts. This is something that cannot be replicated by anyone, or any*thing*, other than you. It is a similar idea to language professors saying that they can totally tell when you use Google Translate for more than a single word. Even then, Google Translate doesn’t understand the nuances of language enough to know when to use a specific word for a term.
The specialties of human speech are impossible to replicate completely, and that includes the voice you create for yourself in your writing.
